Never underestimate the potential of a dreary day.
Remember my post “Montana Road Trip II (part 3)“? I had driven back to Glacier National Park in hopes of catching some autumn color but I was met with a the most dreary day. It had me very depressed that I would not find anything worth photographing. Boy, was I wrong.
In addition to Ferns, I found Trunks. Sort of a yin yang day in photography. I was walking back to the parking lot along Lake McDonald through a grouping of trees when I noticed the tree trunks. Some had fungus and stuff growing on them which I had never noticed before. I think it was the gray low light day that caused the trunks to stand out. What a great subject. One trunk lead to noticing other trunks near by. My Trunk series was conceived.
Below are a few photographs of ferns I found along the road. Click to view the rest of the series.
