A year before I left LA in 1988, I had the opportunity to photograph some landscapes in Calabasas, CA west of the city. It was an early summer morning and the fog was lingering. The fog gave a great quality of light and one I had not photographed before. I loved it.
Interestingly, a year or so earlier I printed some of Paul Caponigro (Sr) colour images he sent the lab where I worked and I couldn’t help noticing how the landscape of this Calabasas property reminded me of his images. Caponigro was mainly known for his black & white images but the ones the lab received were pastoral colour chromes (slides) I believe from northern California that he wanted Cibachrome prints.
